Orange County & Los Angeles County Wedding Officiants - Super Prepared, Has A 62 Page Pre-Ceremony & Wedding Ceremony Day Checklist!

March 17, 2011 - Dale Carnagie said, "Only the prepared speaker deserves to be confident."  How much more true is this when a Wedding Officiant. If you think this is not true, as a Wedding Officiant make a mistake during the presiding of the wedding ceremony!  There will be some "explaining to do!" Moreover, at any point, during the wedding ceremony planning, the smallest detail left untidy can send many a bride reeling! How much more so, on the wedding day! Yet, with the "fake" Wedding Officiant trend, few understand the importance of preparing for the profession. It is almost as if wedding professionals and marrying couples think that all one has to do is "just stand up there and talk!" This is an unfortunate myth, and a dangerous one at that! It implies lack of understanding as to what goes into being a bona fide Wedding Officiant!

At The Clergy Network - Orange County & Los Angeles Wedding Officiants - our pre-ceremony & ceremony day checklist is about 62 pages - We know Dale Carnagie would be proud!

How To Include A Friend In Your Southern California Marriage Ceremony - www.legallymarried.com

A Friend Is A Friend Is A Friend – Including A Friend In Your Marriage Ceremony!

Copyright - The ClergyNetwork - February 19th 2011

Someone once said that “Friendship isn't a big thing - it's a million little things.” Including a friend or friends in a marriage ceremony is a pleasant trend. In writing a marriage ceremony, which includes the interaction of others, a few thoughts start the planning. Questions, such as, Whom? Where? When? How? Each question needs some thought.

Custom Written Wedding Ceremony Which Includes Friends Participation

The “Who” answer, can be simple or complicated. Simple, if one finds no reason to choose between so many friends, that others will be hurt when not included. - The decision is clear cut as to whom. Complicated, if the close friendships are many, too numerous to not breed confusion and exclusion. In any event, if one or many, a friend or friends, may participate well before the ceremony day. In advance, by submitting their personally written well wishes or poems or selected reading of marriage quotes or collected advice from family and friends. Or, by researching and adapting a wedding custom to fit the bride's and groom's lifestyle.

In short, friends may participate by providing original materials prior to the ceremony day, or bringing surprise words of love and encouragement during the ceremony itself. Friends participation can be segregated on the basis of interest or talent or closeness of relationship. There are those who provide the word and idea resources for others to implement, and those who will actually do the presenting during the ceremony. Whether signing as a witness on a decorative marriage certificate during the ceremony or reading quotes about love and marriage or giving a gift, on behalf of the bride and groom, to their parents, a friend  can participate in the marriage ceremony, far beyond that of standing wedding party. We have many ideas and will write more on the subject at another time.

In the meantime, if you are having a 2011 Southern California wedding ceremony … The Clergy Network of Southern California, writes and presides custom interactive wedding ceremonies. Not cut and paste excerpts from trite and overused materials found on the Internet, but custom written! We know how to include a friend or friends a marriage ceremony, before the day, or on the day.

Southern California - What Makes A Person A Legitimate Wedding Officiant, Wedding Minister or Wedding Clergy? - www.legallymarried.com

February 9, 2011 – A Bride asks her Orange County California Event Coordinator - “…We have a lay officiant conducting our ceremony, he is from San Diego county and he wanted to make sure that he would be able to perform the ceremony in Orange county. Do you know if he needs to have a license from orange county in order to perform the ceremony?...”

PROBLEM - INTERNET ORDINATION - Calfornia State Has Some Control Over Legitimacy, But Not Over Competency Or Quality Of Service!

How does a bride and groom know that their Wedding Officiant or Wedding Minister or Civil Ceremony Officiant is legally able to preside (solemnize) a marriage ceremony in California state or in a county of  that state's jurisdiction? Good questions…let us answer the question generally first.

The State of California posts the following as a legitimate Wedding Officiant, Wedding Minister or Wedding Clergy. Please note that “authority” to preside a wedding ceremony does not speak to the issue of competency! Any group can form a “religious non-profit”, and “ordain for profit”, thus so many tragic wedding stories of couples weddings ruined by officiators who only purchased the “authority” to marry via the Internet. This is an illegitimate way to become an officiator, without education or training in public speech presentation, marriage law, ceremony writing, social psychology, etc., there is no competency -  the obligation is not taken seriously! “Pocket change” wedding officiants are phenomena in this current economy. The state of California’s CDC posts the following:
"4. What authorization do I need to perform a marriage in California?

• In California, it is the ordination or investment by the denomination that gives each clergy member the authority to perform the marriage rite. Family Code, Sections 400-402 are the statutes pertaining to who can solemnize a marriage in California.

5. What statutes do I need to know to perform a marriage in California?

• The marriage officiant who performs the marriage ceremony must know the California laws regarding the performance of a marriage and the requirements for officiants. Family Code, Sections 420-425 are the statutes pertaining to the performance of a marriage in California. Please visit http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/  for the full Family Code sections.

Who Do I Contact To Ascertain My Proposed Wedding Officiant's Legitimacy?

The State of California will not confirm the legitimacy of any Wedding Officiant, Wedding Minister or Wedding Clergy! To find out if your Wedding Officiant, Wedding Minister or Wedding Clergy is ordained or invested by their denomination, ask for paperwork or information on whom to contact for verification of the same. If from an Internet Only Ordination Group (posing as non-profit, but acting for profit only) , know that there is no education, training or background check of the applicant required, and that the "ordination fee" is what grants a person the "right to preside" a marriage ceremony.  After this illegitimate ordination or investement via the Internet, no matter how bad a job they do or unethical they are, these Wedding Officiants only have to pay their yearly fee to remain "ordained"! After all, for these fake denominations and religions, it is all about the profit margin ! Also, if the Wedding Officiant holds legitimate earned titles, such as “Doctor”, they may or may not be ordained or invested. Likewise, the title "Doctor", "Reverend", "Clergy" may also be purchased for a fee on-line!

Not That Corny Wedding Ceremony Please! - By TCN Los Angeles County & Orange County Wedding Officiants

February 1, 2011Send in the Wedding Clowns?  At a recent wedding officiant in-person interview, a couple said, "Help I Have Interviewed FOUR Officiants, & They Give Me the Same Corny Ceremony Choices... Why?"

What is Going On With So Many Southern California Wedding Officiants?

Why Is The Wording All The Same Or So Corny?

It is because there are very few REAL wedding officiants in Southern California. Those without legitimate academic degrees in this field, cheat, by paying for the authority to marry. They buy the title - Doctor, Reverend, Pastor, Priest, Wedding Officiator, etc. We have discussed this in other blog articles as to why.

Because they do not have the years of formal study and practice, years of course work in the areas of- Public Speech, Ceremony Writing, Psychology of Life Celebrations, and so many more, they are seriously unfit for what they do.

Literally, these untrained wedding officiants cut and paste words from the same Internet sites or Wedding Vows' books, or, just as bad try to "wax poetic"! This is what our recent bride and groom was encountering. On one ceremony day, an officiant's own improvised additions to the ceremony left one bride's friend, scolding him out loud during the ceremony! Our bride, then writing the ceremony with a TCN writer,  was horrified to see what her friend had settled for in a wedding ceremony officiant!

Did The Couple Having So Much Trouble Finding An Original Ceremony Go With Your Services?

Yes, in fact, our top Ceremony Writer - She has several Doctorates and Masters' Degrees, (also a College & Graduate School Professor training Wedding Officiants), wrote over 2 hours, on a special ceremony introduction just for them - This was before the couple even booked with her!

Wedding Ceremony Writers
Write World Wide!
What Did The Couple Say About Dr. Linda's Original Ceremony Writing?

Within one half hour of sending the potential ceremony wording, the couple e-mailed, "YOU ARE HIRED!".

What is A Wedding Ceremony Writer?

As a Wedding Ceremony Writer is degreed, not only as a Clergy/Officiant, but in literary writing, with specific study and practice in Life Celebration ceremonies - Weddings, Anniversary, Memorial, Quinceanera Blessing, Baby Dedication, etc. They would also be educated in Speech Writing! In fact, they are highly degreed, usually having a background as a Professor, and have also presided hundreds or thousands of ceremonies themselves.

The Clergy Network has the ONLY Professional Wedding Ceremony Speech Writers in California, perhaps even nationally. We started "Wedding Ceremony Speech Writing" !

Anaheim Wedding Officiant - Trusting A Wedding Officiator That You Don't Know

Anaheim California - Wedding Officiators - Today, just about anyone can become a wedding clergy or wedding officiator in Anaheim California. Look at the many links in the search engines or in on-line wedding directories. Based in Anaheim Hills, The Clergy Network offers screened, degreed professional wedding officiants, no "fake clergy" can qualify for our group, and noone in our group pays for advertising space.

What To Look Out For When Selecting An Anaheim Wedding Officiant - A few Suggestions

1. Is part of a Wedding Officiator On-line Directory - If so, referrals are not credible, as these officiators are only referred because they pay for the advertising space. They are not veted, and are more than likely not "real" wedding officiators. This is the case in most all on-line Southern California Wedding Officiator groups, expect for The Clergy Network.

2. Is an independent officiator, (working without partnerships), such as Reverend__________, as this does not give choice of wedding officiator, nor does it guarantee Emergency Backup in the event of that officiators illness or inavailability. The Clergy Network guarantees Emergency Wedding Officiant backup in our Officiants service contract.

Sour Wedding And Sales Coordinator At Orange County Wedding Locations Loses April 17th 2010 Wedding Event!

February 18, 2010 – Sour Wedding Coordinator at local Orange County wedding location loses TCN Couple’s Event.

So What Happened?

Southern California Wedding Locations – Orange County California – Wedding officiators, marriage ministers and wedding clergy know something about what goes on behind the scenes at local wedding venues. As with any person to person meeting, “first impressions” can chart the course of continued discourse or interest. Recently, a sour wedding coordinator, associated with a local Orange County California wedding venue, provided no help to a Clergy Network couple planning a near future wedding ceremony. The Clergy Network bride commented on the fact that the venue’s event planner not only “did not smile”, but seemed disinterested in booking the open April 17th 2010 wedding date. As a result the wedding location, here in Anaheim, lost not only this couple’s event, but several of their friends looking for wedding locations locally.

Facts For Brides and Grooms Regarding Wedding Location Sales & Your Wedding Event

Point One – Corporately held wedding locations sales drop due to sales staff unsuited in personality, competency and enthusiasm. Not an uncommon scenario in corporately held hotels, country clubs, etc.

Point Two – Overworked and underpaid wedding and event planners, employed by corporate owned venues, can work under unrealistically imposed “rules” that hamper sales. Burdened under the weight of restriction, a sales representative’s hands may be tied, with the end result loss of revenue.
Ask The Clergy Network Of Southern California About Their Experience At Your Potential Wedding Location

What Can We Do To Tell You About The Behind The Scenes of Wedding Locations?

The Clergy Network of Southern California is happy to discuss a proposed wedding venue from an “Officiator’s” prospective. Australian Wedding Officiator Coaches American Bride's Father On "Speaking Australian"

www.facebook.com/legallymarried (c)
Southern California Wedding Officiators At The Clergy Network - 2010 (Revised 2013) - American Bride to be to marry Australian groom. American father-of-the- bride is taught to "Speak Australian" by a TCN Australian wedding officiator, in anticipation of new family addition. This eager American father-of-the-bride was happy to receive a course on the "Australian" culture too. From geography to history to social etiquette, our Australian wedding officiator spent plenty of time before the wedding rehearsal preparing the bride's dad for the first time meeting of his soon-to-be Australian son-in-law! Dad wanted to make his new Australian son-in-law and his parents feel truly welcomed! Our talented multi-cultural and well traveled wedding clergy/officiators are always happy to be of help. Now, really, what other wedding officiant would go beyond his wedding responsibilities to do this? Personally, I believe only our TCN wedding officiators would!

Wedding Ceremony Customs - Including The Father of The Bride and The Father of The Groom In The Wedding Ceremony

June 21st 2009 – Happy Father’s Day – Including Dad In the Wedding Ceremony – The Clergy Network of Southern California - Example - Multicultural Wedding in Los Angeles, California

Wedding Tradition should include the father of the bride and the father of the groom. If the relationship between the bride and her father, and that of the groom and his father are favourable, there a many ways in which to provide a more active role to the same. As a wedding ceremony officiator I have often included the fathers in the wedding ceremony, either during the writing of the ceremony, or in the ceremony itself. Let’s look at one recent Clergy Network ceremony which included Dr. Linda of AskDr.Linda, a TCN wedding officiator presided:

Pre- Wedding Ceremony Scenario- The bride was from the Philippines and the groom was Russian. In this custom written Clergy Network wedding ceremony text, Dr. Linda, in conjunction with the bride and groom, wrote a “Welcome to the Guests” in English, which was then translated into Tagala and Russian.
Wedding Day - On the ceremony day, Dr. Linda, the father of the groom and the father of the bride walked down the ceremony aisle together. Rising to the ceremony area in unison, Dr. Linda “welcomed” the guests in English. Then the groom’s father in Russian, followed by the father of the bride in Tagalla. At the end all shook hands; Dr. Linda remained in her ceremony position. The father of the groom was seated. The father of the bride walked back to join his daughter for her entrance, to be soon after the wedding party’s procession.

Conclusion – Such a simple suggestion is rather profound, as it is not often included in the wedding ceremony. Whether there are several native languages represented through the respective families of the bride and groom, or not, there is no mandatory wedding day tradition for which the father of the groom and/or the father of the bride are to be precluded from verbal participation. If the father of the bride and/or groom is not given to public speech, even these “welcomes” can be pre-recorded and then played by a D.J. at the start of the wedding ceremony.

In short, the fathers’ may write the “welcome” which may be read by the wedding officiator or another, or write and read a “welcome to the guests”. This unexpected personal greeting from the fathers’, at the “start” of the marriage ceremony, sets the right tone of involvement for the guests themselves. In short, someone they know is saying “go ahead, feel invited. Laugh, cry, applaud, and by all means enjoy!” It makes all the difference in this wedding officiant’s vast experience.

Private Home - Wedding Ceremony At Home - Comfortable Meets Chaos

Private Home Wedding Ceremony - A Wedding Officiators Prospective- The Clergy Network of Southern California - A home wedding ceremony can be lovely, sentimental, comfortable, to name a few positive attributes which invoke a sense of wedding day well being. Yet, as an experienced wedding officiator, I can say the “other side of the coin” must also be calculated into the overall decision to marry at a private home – Be it a parent’s, the bride’s and groom’s, sister’s, aunt’s, grandparents’, etc.

So, for the sake of argument, let’s take the “comfortable” attribute of a home wedding ceremony environment. By “flipping the coin”, “comfortable” can become “disorganized, chaotic, and dysfunctional” in short order. Why? By way of introduction let’s start with the following:

Potential Problem: In a “familiar” or “comfortable” environment, the importance of following a time schedule is often overlooked or dismissed or canceled out, as it seems to run counter to “familiar” or “comfortable”. Even the most innocent dismissal of time can be attributed to the nature of the “home”, a place where time can stand still, a haven of rest from the fast paced world outside.
Breaking The Myth:

When it comes to the notion of a "timeline" putting a damper on things, the reverse is really true, for the few hours which comprise the wedding ceremony and reception go quickly. Without the mapping of and adherence to a timeline, the most important events of the day may be sacrificed at the “altar of comfortability”. In short, this is when “comfortable” and “casual” become the twin nemeses of the “sacredness” or “seriousness” of the marriage ceremony day. Things get overlooked or cut out or forgotten, as they threaten the “feeling” of “comfortable”.

Example One - Family and friends, having been at the home before as casual visitors, find the transition to wedding guest hard to make. Something essential to the “specialness” of the day can be lost for the sake of preserving “comfortable”. Giving a set arrival time, ceremony start time, cocktail hour, reception starting time, can help family and friends to “put on” the “ wedding guest cap” in a way they might not without a timeline which delineates the valuable components of the day. Letting the day take on an unstructured “mind of its own”, can turn “comfortable” into “disorganized, chaotic and dysfunctional”. We will discuss other examples at a later blog.

Part 2- Mother Of Bride & Deceased Father Of Bride Gives Daughter Away! Dana Point, California

More To This California True Life Wedding Ceremony Story- After the TCN wedding officiant's questions of "Who presents", the Mother of The Bride lifted her arms toward the Dana Point harbour, and said, "I and her father do". Not only was the father of the bride's ashes scattered in the harbour some 9 years ago, but his ashes were also present in a religious symbol.

Part 2 Of The Story- A small cross tied with ribbon on mother of the bride's corsage, as a part of her wrist, also pointed to Dana Point harbour. Inside this cross was the bride's late father's ashes. The bride and her mother, Roman Catholic in faith, had long since cherished this religious piece as a daily reminder of their loved one. This wedding ceremony moment made even more meaningful to the bride and her mother through this gesture.

Conclusion- Including the happy remembrance of a loved one during a wedding ceremony can be done - Subtly or in more unusual way. Perhaps the above does not suit your requirements, but The Clergy Network Wedding Officiants of Southern California can help you to write the wedding ceremony which does.

Mother Of Bride & Deceased Father Of Bride Gives Daughter Away! Dana Point, California

Including Those No Longer With Us In A Wedding Ceremony- Orange County, California -The Clergy Network of Southern California Real Time Officiator Reporter

What Happened? "Who gives this woman to be married to this man". Mother of the Bride answers - I do and Her father !- (mother points to Dana Point harbour backdrop).

A True TCN Wedding Ceremony Story - Our TCN bride wanted a happy remembrance of her father, no longer living. So, she picked an amphitheatre in Dana Point - one that overlooked the ocean. You see, her father's ashes were scattered at the nearby ocean about nine years ago. When our TCN wedding officiator asked, "Who presents this woman in marriage", and her mother pointed out to the ocean at Dana Point, this was the reason. For there, at Dana Point, was the memory of a loving father. On this wedding day, there was a happy reunion of a daughter to a father, still very much alive in her heart and thoughts.

Interfaith Wedding Ceremony Includes Hebrew- Southern California Wedding Officiants

A TCN Real Time Wedding Officiator Report - How To Add Hebrew To An Interfaith Ceremony - An Interfaith wedding ceremony between a groom of the Jewish faith and a Christian bride has its challenges. At The Clergy Network of Southern California, we are no strangers to the challenging wedding ceremony. Today, our TCN officiator presided a wedding ceremony which included Hebrew just for the groom and his family. The carefully written wedding ceremony emphasized the similarities and certain cultural customs between the two faiths. After the marriage ceremony there were many compliments on the Hebrew! Good job TCN wedding officiator!

Conclusion- Multi-lingual and Bilingual wedding ceremonies have been a part of The Clergy Network tradition for nearly 20 years. Hebrew, French, Russian, German, Chinese, Vietnamese, Tagala, are just few of the languages employed in The Clergy Network wedding ceremony.
