Wedding Aisle Madness - The Foolishness of Getting Certain Wedding Tips From Wedding Magazines By Dr. Linda

Whats Wrong With This Picture?
Open Letter To Wedding Magazines

By Celebrity Wedding Officiator
Dr. Linda

Wedding Magazine editors or associated decision makers should ask, "In the Trench" professionals, to write their “Tips and Trends” articles for them! Shouldn’t the wedding professionals invent the trends based upon their practical and expert experiences? I have said that for years! Even volunteering to write about "All Things Ceremony" for groups like The Knot! In the end, when a bride attempts to utilize a “Wedding Trend Tip” from a non-expert Wedding Magazine writer, the professionals, those actually working with the couples, are inconvenienced!  See below…..? This is one of many examples as to why wedding magazine conglomerates need our help! Their writers don't appear to have officiated a wedding ceremony ever! What do they know?

Brides Read This, Then Look at The Knot Image!

Quote from Knot Website
"Did you know that rugs made of knotted yarn (called “rya”) are an important part of a traditional Finnish wedding ceremony? The couple would say their wedding prayers while kneeling on the colorful rug and then they later display it in their home. Today, the hot trend is to take rugs from your favorite design store or flea market and turn them into your ceremony aisle (tip: check with friends and family to see if they have any that might look pretty too!). If you do end up buying them, the best part is you can totally reuse the rugs in your home later and they make for easy set-up and clean up. It’s really a win-win. See the photos of couples who used rugs as aisle runners below! Rustic Woven Rugs on the Beach"

Look at this image! My officiator team laughed out loud! So, did I....! Bridesmaids, groomsmen, bride, groom, and me standing on this, as positioned on the beach sand! Do I have to paint a picture of the safety issues alone, or my experience with such dangerously unsecured wedding ceremony decorations! Don't get me started on the importance of safety in the ceremony environment. With all due respect.....to all of the Wedding Magazine conglomerates…… Please ask my officiators or  ceremony writing team to write your tips, trends and wedding story segments! They have actually presided wedding ceremonies! Wedding Ceremony Mythology: Some Things Just Need To Stay As They Are! By Celebrity Wedding Officiator Dr. Linda

At the wedding ceremony rehearsal, the maid-of-honour says, “Hey, I think that it would be really cool for the wedding officiator to stand with their back to the wedding guests! Don’t you!”  At first, this suggestion seems to defy convention, and provide an interesting option to the marrying couple.  Even gives the illusion of diminishing the perceived traditional dominance of the officiator in a standard pose and positioning. Without thinking it through, the bride and groom agree, and arrange accordingly. This is great, bride and groom will really stand out, the wedding guests will see them better……! So, what’s wrong with this?

Reason # 1 – This Wedding Officiator Says, “STOP!” – The Foreground Is Called The Foreground For A Reason!

Who is in the foreground will more naturally stand out in the pictures. This is also true for the live audience. Especially, when, the wedding officiator is on the same level as the guests. And, if there is not much difference in the elevation between the officiant’s position and the marrying couple.  See this publicly posted picture of such a configuration.

Do You Think Reason # 1 Is Valid?

What Is a "Destination Lovely Motto" Internet Shout Out?

Back in the Day, there was the "Chain Letter". This was a letter started by one person, given to another, who gave it to another friend that passed it on to someone else and so forth. A single letter could be read by conceivable thousands. Today's version of this old tradition is an Internet "Shout Out" through a "Retweet" or "Share". And, ours is the "Getting Married" version of the same. So, we selected a bride-to-be, who started our "Share" off.  - Her name is Lisa.  Today is your opportunity to send a "Shout Out" to the Internet world about your "Getting Married Motto". It's your turn to make an impression on other aspiring marrying couples! What is your "Marriage Philosophy?"

Hiring A Wedding Officiator is Like Trying on a Comfortable Pair of Jeans - By Celebrity California Wedding Officiator, Dr. Linda

Our LegallyMarried & The Clergy Network phone rang. On the dialing end was an officiator shopping bride. What was this bride's deal breaker? Would she know it was him or her when she met them? Perhaps, she would have a "good feeling". Definitely, not wanting a novice or someone without a background check? Right? Perhaps, it was all about price? Certainly, she wanted to hire a reliable one! Now, saying that, probably our most popular comment by a marrying couple is, "We are looking for just the right fit"! After 24 years, one could imagine how many times this was the recurring descriptive for filling the officiator position.

Now, its 2014, you are getting married. Is this your descriptive too? Then, this image, from the 1st ever Wedding Ceremony Art Gallery by a bunch of Celebrity Officiators, is my initial contribution. The Pin is at: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/412220172114744052/ But, there is more, if you are searching for 'Just the right fit" in a wedding officiator, let's talk. I would like to write a collaborative blog article with tons of brides about "Just the right fit". I have already written on this before, but, this is 2014! Let's start fresh. What does it mean when you say, “I am looking for just the right fit??” Regards, Dr. Linda

Wedding Professionals & Brides Shake Hands And Come Out Wedding Planning Readers! Help! Does Anyone Read Wedding Articles Anymore?

United States - November 5th 2013 The cash register’s software was down. The sale was made, but
 www.facebook.com/legallymarried
what about the amount due back? The downed registered highlighted the fact, that the retail clerk didn’t know how to count the required change due at the end of the transaction!
  - She had never learned how to do this! This article is about something like this. If you don’t read this article, then you prove my point. And, if you do, perhaps we can talk about smartening up the wedding industry, and inspiring thoughtful brides through providing great wedding planning learning platforms via Internet.

A cursory Internet review of keywords related to “wedding articles” left me briefly stunned.  Mind you, an exhaustive or detailed survey could render a different yield. But, at present, the findings seem to suggest far more interest in wedding related reading amongst the English, Australian, Canadian and New Zealand peoples! Or, at the very least, even if not true, certainly, these countries' citizens seem more aggressive at bringing content to the top of search engine recognitions. Also, not a scientific experiment, certainly there are variables or exceptions to consider.

Moreover, when coupling the above with anecdotal experience, I find cause to further wonder. If this generation’s American bride is not devoted to education through reading…. And, if the American wedding professional is not locked into professional growth through writing, discussing and reading.... then, how do they learn?  Is it possible that American brides or their wedding professionals are not convinced about learning this way? Nor, that some of the most impressive and imperative learning comes from organized ideas and facts formed into word communications?

A prominent national wedding professional wrote:

“We offered to write blog articles for wedding professionals, and at no charge.  But, the value of the offer failed them. Then, looking at their blogs or Facebooks’ or other social networking efforts…. Well, they were not even well plotted or tended verbal gardens. Vacant and filled with nothing, or something looking much like verbal weeds.  Also, there were no signs of life, like that often seen through the participation of others stopping by for a good discussion, or to procure some new wedding planning insight. There were few or no comments, discourses, objections, etc. Why?”
Moreover, we too even offered career wedding service providers and brides the opportunity to add to our articles, or help us write relevant ones. But, only a few takers! Don’t get me wrong, our articles are read. It is more the lack of participatory interest that is glaring! Collaboration is a wonderful way to accomplish many important goals through teamwork. And, if you are reading this article, I don’t need to tell you this. In fact, for those who have participated, thank you. Professionals, such as Wedding Manners expert, Maria Erdman and Healthy Bride Nutritionist Donna Schuller are a few of the exceptional experts who have collaborated with some fine article writing. With new articles scheduled for the future.
For the American bride, is it really true that she just doesn’t want to learn in this way? Perhaps, she thinks a simple “Internet search” will make her a wedding expert! Or, is she just the product of a failed school system, which does not emphasize the basics, while, at the same time, ascribing a “god-like” self worth to her that leaves an unwitting bankruptcy?

www.facebook.com/legallymarried
Why Read Wedding Articles? Just a Few Thoughts, Please Help Me Add to the List:

1. We are wired to learn. So learn!
2. We find joy in learning. So be joyful!
3. We mature through discussion & thought. So grow & discuss!
4. We pass on good information to the next generation. So pass it on!
5. We avert mistakes, by learning from those who didn’t dodge them. So do it rightly!
6. We are exposed to things that we did not know. - Giving us new things to try. So, try something new!
7. We learn from experts, determining what is outside our reach, makes us wise consumers – This helps the non-expert to direct time and efforts and expectations accordingly.
8. It is a wedding professionals obligation to advise, and writing about their subject is a vehicle. So, advise!
9. It is a part of a bride’s wedding planning enjoyment. So, enjoy!
10. Generally, reading energizes critical thinking. Critical thinking is “valuable livings” advisory tool, medicine, and protector!
11. It encourages and develops creativity while participating in a planning endeavour. So, be creative!

Let’s add more…. Your thoughts?

Concluding Thoughts

There is a lot to learn that must be placed in print, so to speak. – Both for the one writing, and the one reading! Not to mention how amazing the wedding planning experience could be, if done in an educated manner. So, wedding professionals, how shall we teach them? How shall we learn without discussion and the important interpersonal communication of writing and reading?  Brides, when planning a wedding, thinking about things is beneficial.  And doing that through reading wedding articles or contributing to a written discussion can propagate a sort of “Wedding Planning Nirvana”.

About This ArticleWhy aren’t they reading wedding articles? My article is not a rant, but, about an observation. It is about the potential loss of something valuable, both for the wedding professional and the wedding planning bride. Take time to write, read and discuss wedding articles, then share the joy of learning with others. Wedding professionals make the wedding industry what it could be through increasing knowledge and understanding, while honing your skill set. Through the reading of wedding articles, brides explore the wedding planning process by acquiring new ideas, facts and interests. Make the journey to the wedding aisle interesting and memorable. If not for any other reason, your first grade reading teacher would be proud! Use it or lose it!

Invisible - The New Wedding Guest RUDE! By Celebrity Wedding Officiator Dr. Linda & Maria Erdman Table Manners Exp

October 11, 2013 - United States - Maria Erdman, an expert in "Table Manners" offers this true story as a part of our series on "Wedding Manners".   www.seeseelifestyle.com

She was British, and she was royal. At a dinner party Princess Anne spent the entire meal talking about horses with one of her dinner companions. Throughout the meal, beyond passionate about horses, this royal ignored her other dinner table neighbor. Until that moment when, the princess turned to him to ask for the sugar. At her request, the slighted man put two lumps of sugar on his open palm and held them out to her!

Depending upon your vantage point, the ignored table companion either demonstrated his dismay with a well placed correction or with an out-of-order admonishment. Whether a graphic plea for acknowledgement, or something more derogatory... Point Well Taken!  Does this kind of scenario bring back an "I am invisible" moment for you too? In an uncomfortable way, I too have been the victim of "Social Dismissal" at the wedding reception table. So too, at a wedding rehearsal and on a ceremony day. In fact, at a recent celebrity wedding, "Invisible" was my middle name!  Whether the "Brave New World of Technology Dependence" is the culprit or the flawed "Child-Rearing" of the "Hippie Generation", it just is that way! But, it does not need to remain in this flagrant state.

Be it self - absorbed or insecure..... Single - tracked or Scattered..... or whatever disposition, the "Invisible Ones" at your wedding should certainly find their voice. Whether you consider yourself their good friend or an exceptional  bride - hostess, it is your joyful responsibility to foster an inclusive wedding environment. So, how do we change the American culture on this regard? This is a good question which requires a big answer! So, let's just start with your wedding!

Firstly, I will start off with a few suggestions, adding to the article with your ideas as we go along. This will be a "Wedding Manners" collaborative article. We will even give you a link credit for your accepted story or manners suggestion.

1. Study the "Art of Inclusion" - At a social event or business mixer, pay attention to the presence of those around you.  The "Invisible Ones" don't need to remain unseen. You can be that "first hand-shake" of acceptance!

2. Outside Your Familiar Social Circle, find a common ground of interest, or invest a few minutes in discovery of another's passions. Generally speaking, human beings like to learn, and enjoy communicating their treasured information. Also, there is great satisfaction in acknowledging the value of others. Even those across the room, or standing by the guest table, etc. have a story to tell you. -  A story with your name on it! Who knows, this here-to-fore "Invisible One"  might mention something that they read about a recent "Medical Cure" or that invites some other solution in your own life. Perhaps, you may meet Mr Right or Miss. Right or, that "Friend for Life". When at a social event,  become known for your character and class,  choose to participate outside your familiar inner circle.

3. As the bride, discuss your requirement of "Inclusive Enjoyment" for all wedding guests. - From the reception Master of Ceremony or D.J., to your Wedding Planner.  As a Wedding Officiator, here in Southern California and as an International Wedding Ceremony Writer, I have many suggestions on "How to Include Family & Friends In The Ceremony Moment!"  www.facebook.com/legallymarried

4.  Simply the "Thoughtful Thing To Do", assign each table a host and/or hostess. - Those selected should have an inclusive nature.- This will facilitate natural lively conversation and enjoyment at their table of influence.

5. Simply the "Thoughtful Thing to Do", assign a person to attend to those wedding professionals providing services at your ceremony and reception. Greet them at their arrival, thank them at their departure. Sometimes, on a hot wedding day, the Wedding Officiator could sure use a cold glass of water (That would be me)!

Discussion With Maria Erdman's submitted story of Princess Anne. "Ms. Erdman spent most of her life in Europe in the international aristocratic and jet set environment. She lived an elegant lifestyle unimaginable for most of people. Her main activity was hosting social events. .......She was identified as the most elegant woman in Rome by the national newspaper "La Repubblica"....Today Maria is focusing on using her experience, talent and passion to enhance the lives activity was hosting social events."

Discussion With Dr. Linda - Celebrity Wedding Officiator - Officiated The Real Housewives of Orange County Wedding on June 15th 2013 & The Food Network Star Chefs Wedding

Recently, after my Bravo T.V. wedding ceremony for The Reality Show - The Real Housewives of Orange County Tamra & EddieI received a number of compliments regarding the kindness and grace in my voice and in my deportment. Also, that these traits are not ones manufactured. Wedding or Celebrations Manners are more much more than "have to", they are public expressions of what a person values, and who they are or want to become.

The New Look In “Wedding Crashers” - This Wedding Crasher Isn’t The Wedding Officiator, But, She Could Have Been! (True Wedding Story) By Celebrity Wedding Officiator Dr. Linda

www.facebook.com/legallymarried
United States - Oct 6, 2013 - Start with a beautiful Southern California night, then, note a brightly lit structure in the distant hills. And, now, imagine a second one, almost exactly like the first – With one structure parallel to the other, just on different hills.  Passing through a chain of green lights, you travel towards both hill-side palaces, just as it has quickly slipped into the night with the brightness of the sun replaced by twinkling party lights. Choosing the left gate and ascending the hill is altogether festive. There, along with the tender breezes at the top, are happily racing parking attendant-greeters and an amazing view of the Catalina Islands. Yet, as majestic as this moment might be, you are there to work!
Early, as usual, you exit your automobile. Immediately, you navigate the people crowded entrance, walk straight past the wedding venue’s hostess, and right down to the ceremony area. Surveying the layout, saying “hello” to the other wedding vendors, doing a microphone “sound – check”, and, so forth. There, diligently going through your pre-ceremony paces, always competent, helpful, and organized. – But, then, it happens, you hear the marrying couple’s first and last names mentioned….. Oops, your innocent mistake hits hard, much like that childhood “belly flop” on a swimming pool’s hard watery surface. And, under your breath, you say, “I am on the wrong hill!”   Now, you are not the usual “Wedding Crasher”, because you are a “Wedding Officiator!”  This kind of crashing is excusable, and even humorous, especially if it is by a diligent and legitimate marriage officiant. NoteBy the way, exiting quickly, but still early, the real officiator of this true story found her bride and groom at the wedding venue on the other hill!
Real Wedding Crashers Use Credit Cards Just Like Your Wedding Guests & Might Leave You With The Check!
At any large hotel, there could be three or four or five wedding celebrations in one four hour
www.facebook.com/legallymarried
time-block. In fact, as a wedding officiator, scouting out my contracted ceremony event, I have innocently walked into the wrong already happening reception and been greeted warmly by the unsuspecting! It is just that easy to do! So, what about the new wedding crasher? Are they drawn to the open bar and passed hors d'oeuvres at a wedding cocktail hour? Maybe, the monetary treasures in envelopes ready for picking on the gift table? Perhaps, he or she is using your wedding day much like a “dating service”.  Certainly, there could be those.
Human “creativity” is either noble or dastardly, and amid rising hotel rates, crashers are after your discount. You might say, “Oh well, the more the merrier!”, but, like with anything stolen from the innocents, enough of that kind of activity ruins it for others.  Then, the correction becomes corporal, much like punishing the whole fifth grade class just because of one obsessively pesky student transgressor.
The experts say today’s “Wedding Crasher” is getting in on the lower price connected with a block of rooms for a wedding or a corporate event. Apparently, rates are steeper during high-demand times such as wedding season or a busy convention period. And the wickedly resourceful know it. This crime of a “stow-away” or “camouflaged” wedding guest is so easily perpetrated. In fact, it is the 68 percent of the marrying engaged, with their public wedding websites doing the “aiding and abetting”. How you might ask?
www.facebook.com/legallymarried

The Good Thing That Is Also The Bad Thing

The simple act of the on-line posting of important wedding organizational details for genuine wedding guest attendees is the culprit.  For those “devious for a discount”, a wedding website provides guest information, such as where to book rooms and deal codes that often are not password-protected. Crashing a block is easy enough to do with just a quick search for "wedding block," (along with a location and date), yielding potential dozens of examples.
Wedding website couples, not-to-worry, and hotel purveyors don’t punish the “whole for the few”.  Even though “crashers” fly under the radar, it is easy to determine if one is a victim. Together, with a representative of the hotel hosting your wedding guests, go through the names in your discounted block regularly. If you don’t recognize a name or two, just let them know. If your “discount code” was used by a “Wedding Crasher”, the hotel might suggest the typical protocol for this offense.

Finally, a bit of a warning too … Realize that Hotels aren't overly concerned about crashers, as it's better to sell a room than have it go empty. So, engaged couples, this leaves it to you to thwart interlopers. Do be diligent to catch any crashers in your room blocks. Too many couples “asleep at the wheel” could result in legitimate guests' paying higher rates or being unable to book at all. Those not-caught uninvited can also leach right under your nose. Perhaps, even padding the bill for things you might pay for per head for your guests, such as breakfast, shuttle use or gift placed in rooms. Certainly, there may be other un-intended consequences. So, for all of us innocents, Happy “Wedding Crasher” sleuthing

Wedding Ceremony GPS Required......

 The Wedding Ceremony Temperament Series

By Dr. Linda Wainwright Trott
(Celebrity Wedding Officiator)

Identifying The Faux From The Genuine

“Say What?”

At a recent wedding professionals’ event, several Event Planners joked about one of the local Wedding Officiators attending that night. “He’s such a fake”, was one of the assessments. Not to mention braggart, and a few other choice descriptions. They weren’t fooled, and they did not recommend that person’s services.   Also, at the same party, several other Wedding Planners were chatting about their mutual removal of a few local Wedding Officiators from their respective Wedding Venue referral lists.

But, You Are A Bride – How Are You Supposed To Know
Who Is The Genuine Article?

For the marrying couple, how do they navigate the crowd of novice or illegitimate “Wedding Officiators”?  Frankly, this is a chore that they should not need to engage. Oh, for the good ole days, when this title and the role were admired, and the aspiring officiator had to pay their dues.  There were real societal expectations, including stringent given training requirements. But, with the Internet, anyone, and I mean anyone can become an officiator.  Thus the beginning of this series on, “Wedding Ceremony GPS Required”.  I can do this because, I am a genuine career Wedding Officiator with multiple academic degrees, a professor of officiators, and probably the most experienced in the Southern California area. There is nothing “faux” about the years, effort and money invested in my officiator education!

A Good Information Series, like this one,
 A Wedding Ceremony GPS

There is a lot to talk about, so more series articles to come.  Not in any particular order, this is just one of the things a bride should rally around when starting the officiator selection process.

Let’s Start You Off In The Right Direction –
Turning on The Wedding Ceremony GPS

1.  Be concerned if a prospective Wedding Officiator is not asking you to explain your vision of your wedding ceremony.  He or She should be asking you to define the words and ideas being stated.

For Example:

“I am Spiritual” said the bride to the Wedding Officiator.”

As a University trained Wedding Officiator, I should be thinking….. O.K., really, what does it mean to her to be spiritual?  If the officiator doesn’t ask for “spiritual” to be explained, or perhaps, define it, it means they are disinterested.  Or, that they simply don’t care. Or, they think they know what you mean.  Or, they just don’t want to spend the time crafting ceremony wording which has the couple’s “personal meaning” in mind.  “Spiritual” is not a simple thing, and it needs to be parsed.

Conclusion:   As a Professional Wedding Officiator, I ask the bride and groom to define words and ideas.  Before, they have even booked my services, I see the “persons”, not the “dollar signs”.  Asking for explanations, it is how I navigate what to suggest.  It is how I prove my interest in them.  It is how I show them that I am skilled in what they need.

Child Sitcom Star Married By The Clergy Network Wedding Officiators - Orange County California

Anaheim, Ca - November - December - 1970's Child Star recently married by a Clergy Network wedding officiator - The ceremony was custom written, and presided in a garden chapel and reception center in California. We can't tell you his name, out of courteous to his privacy... but, we can say that he appeared on CHIPS, sang with someone from the original "rat pack", along with his sitcom run. We enjoyed working with this former child star actor, as he was a polite ceremony interested groom, pleased with celebrity wedding officiator, Dr. Linda's custom written marriage ceremony wording and his personally selected TCN wedding officiator!

Perceptions of Economy Are Undermining Wedding Celebrations In America – 2009Wedding News – The Clergy Network & Ask Dr. Linda – Planning Through The Eyes Of Meaning and

Whether real or perceived, wedding celebrations, in large American numbers, have been scaled back or reset for 2010. For the bride and groom planning a wedding in 2009, a word of wedding ceremony planning wisdom from The Clergy Network and Dr. Linda - The natural inclination to “expect much for less” or to “relinquish the important for a “recession budget”, can lead to trouble and irretrievable “missed sentimental opportunities” . You might ask, what trouble? What “missed sentimental opportunity”? In short, I believe the sacrificing of the meaning inherent to the wedding ceremony celebration can be inevitable in our present economy. A bride and groom may end up not knowing the joy that marrying couples before them know, because the determining factor for every decision was “How much, What, Can’t You Do Better Than That” or “ No, we can’t have what I really want, because we are on a budget”.

Like the rudder on a ship, what a person believes about a thing, determines their decisions and ultimately their actions. So, Dr. Linda Trott of The Clergy Network suggests planning your wedding ceremony and reception by the compass of “meaning and memories”, rather than the “pocketbook” alone. Far too many couples are letting their finances rule an immensely important life achievement. So, at the beginning of general wedding planning, a newly engaged couple should make A “Wedding Memories Wish List” before compiling a list of things. After this, consider what things and what services will help to accomplish this most important list of all – those intangible, but real and meaningful memories every couple should take away from their wedding day.
